How does it affect service delivery under the National Health Insurance Scheme in Ghana? Health providers and insurance managers perspective on submission and reimbursement of claims

Introduction In 2003, the Government of Ghana launched National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable all Ghanaian residents have access health services at point care without financial difficulty. However, system has faced a number challenges relating delays in submission and reimbursement claims. This study assessed views stakeholders on claims submission, processing re-imbursement under NHIS how that affected service delivery Ghana. Methods The employed qualitative methods where in-depth interviews were conducted with three administrative regions Purposive sampling method was used select facilities participants for interviews. QSR Nvivo 12 software code data into themes thematic analysis. Results results key barriers such as lack qualified staff process claims, unclear vetting procedure failure officers draw attention facility resolve discrepancies time. Participants perceived clarity, inaccurate use non-professional prolonged operations credentialed including provision services. It is unavailability funds led re-use disposable medical supplies facilities. Stakeholders suggested genuine by providers regular monitoring reduces errors reports Conclusion Long reimbursement, affect delivery.
